Ibiza is situated adjacent to the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. It belongs to Spain's Balearic Islands in geographic terms. This relatively small island is also a major attraction for fans of electronic and dance music.

Ibiza is a popular tourist destination in general. A wide range of popular activities and pastimes are part of daily life on the island.

Ibiza didn't gain worldwide recognition until around the 1950s. It was then that tourism became a common factor of life on the island.

Tourists began seeing the island as an exotic location for holidays and honeymoons. The island began to develop and flourish. Hotels and resorts were constructed to accommodate the growing influx of tourists.

Through time Ibiza has became known for modern and primitive cultures. The World Heritage Committee has recognized Ibiza and its over 700 popular sites for natural and cultural history of the island. Ibiza received this esteemed recognition in 1999.

Traditional music of the island is called colla de xeremiers. This traditional music is most often created through an ensemble of musicians. Two primary components are the labiol and xeremies. The labiol is a tabor pipe featuring five holes. The xeremies is a form of bagpipes.

The modern Belearic Beat didn't emerge until during the 1980s. The connection of music and artists remain strong on the island. Many artists are moving to live on the island.

Recording artists and musicians began paying attention to this locale long before this period. It is estimated that British musicians began the tread of relocating to Ibiza sometime during the 1960s.

Many popular artists who have homes today in Ibiza or include Slow Ride, James Blunt, and Chris Lee.
