Mykonos is an island that thrives at night. There is always a party atmosphere once the sun starts to set. If you want to make good use of those prime hours before the party starts on one of the beautiful beaches the island has to offer or party the night away with the surf a few feet away, there are many options from which to choose. The beaches of Mykonos are as popular as they are beautiful. This island's eternal party atmosphere is perfectly complemented by amazing opportunities to enjoy the sand and surf. You can either watch the waves, read a juicy novel or people-watch to your heart's content. There are a few beaches you should be sure to check out during your stay on this lovely island. Agrari Beach, Paradise Beach, Agios Steafanos Beach, and Paraga Beach are all slightly different in atmosphere and yet spectacular each in their own way.
Paradise Beach is the most well-known beach on the island. That is due in the large part to its blazing party atmosphere. It is located five kilometres south of Mykonos Town and regular bus service can bring you here and back from town. There are two clubs right on the beach which are the Paradise Club and the Tropicana Beach Club and they open at 6pm. Go in the morning if you want the beach to yourself. By early afternoon, party crowds will already be converging here to drink cocktails and various other alcoholic beverages and plan their night of clubbing. Paraga Beach is another beach with a definite party option. It is located within walking distance of Paradise Beach and even has a nice lounge available at Goya Bar right by the beach.
If you are travelling with your family and would prefer a more relaxing, child-friendly beach, head three kilometres north of Mykonos Town to Agios Steafanos Beach. This is a calm place to enjoy the sand and surf with other families and low-key beachcombers. Agrari Beach is another similar option is terms of beaches on the island. It is located ten kilometres southeast of Mykonos Town. Since there are no discos or clubs in the vicinity, the beach itself really takes centre-stage here which is perfect for those days when all you want to hear are the waves brushing across the sand. With these diverse options to maximize your beach experience, the biggest challenge may be choosing just one beach to recommend to your friends once you return from your trip to Mykonos.
